The Trustees: Who Are The People Behind Kids Action?

Ola Smart - Director, Kids Action Home, Sierra Leone 'Religion that God our father accepts as pure and faultless is this, to look after orphans and widows in their distress' (James 1 vs.27)

Ola is a man who commands the highest respect amongst his peers. From his humble beginnings in life as a homeless street kid Ola strived to gain an education and with help he eventually gained his Masters Degree in Agriculture. Ola left Sierra Leone to make a new life for himself in neighbouring Guinea.

When the terrible rebel war broke out in Sierra Leone and all around were fleeing the atrocities Ola returned to his homeland to seek out and help abandoned children. That is how the home started. Ola is still there.

Ola is a dedicated Christian. Ola is married to Eugenia who works for United Nations.

Alastair Brodie - Trustee  "For seven years I have struggled to raise money to give the kids a secure and happy upbringing in the home and education. This has been possible thanks many individuals who have supported Kids Action. It is now my earnest wish to see the kids through education and training to meaningful full time employment" January 2010

Retired Bank Manager Alastair has over twenty years experience in managing Aid Projects in the poorest countries. He personally ran charity bike rides for many years in Zimbabwe and Malawi to raise funds to help impoverished communities, Aids victims and abandoned children in Africa. He has also carried out many projects in Nepal. Alastair is married with three grown up family.

Alastair is a Member of Rotary Club of Aberdeen St Fittick from whom he has received two Paul Harris Fellowship awards for his International work.

Jim Pirie - Trustee

Retired Head Teacher. Jim is pastor of a church which has a very significant International and Missionary focus. Jim has a great interest in the welfare and education of young people of all ages and has maintained his links with education as a Health and Fitness instructor at a primary school. Jim is married with three grown up family.

Sandy Stephen - Trustee

Sandy is presently Director of a prominent business enterprise in Scotland and has had a lifetime's experience in the management of successful businesses. Sandy has been involved with Kids Action for many years bringing his expertise to help with all areas of management and particularly giving sound advice and guidance in matters relating to funding, governance and good practice in the administration of the charity.
